wireless router problem with ip address

  colcol 15:56 07 Mar 2006

I use aol and xp home and currently have a speedtouch wired router which connects 3 pcs to my broadband with no problem.

I now want to replace the router with a speedtouch576 wireless router. I have no problem connecting the first pc to the router using a cable. I then attempt, with no success, to connect a second pc wirelessly to the router using an edimax 802.11g wireless lan mini usb adapter.

the adapter seems to communicate well with the router but there seems to be a problem finding the ip address.

I tried using wireless zero configuration (MS knowledge base 871122) but this failed to activate.

are my components compatible? how do I solve the IP address problem?
