Wireless Router to Modem for wireless internet

  sean-278262 16:33 07 Jun 2007

A friend of mine has just purchased a wireless router to connect to the internet.

We have found one snag however the purchased a DSL router and the internet connection is a cable one through NTL.

I am not entirely sure if this will work with a cable modem or if there is something Im missing.

As it stands we have

Laptop > wireless router > ethernet cable > NTL 250 modem > wall socket

The router that has just been purchased is a talk talk SNA5630NS -/05 router.

Is there a way we can connect it to the modem and get the wireless to work. What settings do we need to use on the router to get it. As just plugging it in doesnt work. Many thanks.

As far as I an aware a DSL router won't connect to a NTL connection.

You will need to change it for an NTL compatable one.

Red Dragon and Postie24 Im affraid you didnt read what I wrote propperly. I mean we have the NTL modem and a new router with Ethernet and the other modem has an ethernet connection. We want to connect the old modem to the router in a chain to avoid buying a new router all together. As he doesnt have a lot of cash to spare and the router was a treat.
