Wireless Router Cable Failure

I have set up a Netgear router which worked well for 3 weeks; I turned on my PC one morning and received a message telling me there was no line connection. After some trial and error I discovered that the cable appeared to be dead. I replaced the LAN cable and everything has been fine for about another 3 weeks and now the same thing has happened; the line is down and the cable appears to have failed again. The router appears to be working OK it just the LAN cable that goes down. I turn off the PC at night but leave the router on permanently, although I cannot believe that is a problem.
