i have a Linksys router but do not have an ethernet input socket on my packard bell comp', is there a way i can manually configure router without actually having a physical connection thanks in advance.

No. You need an RJ45 on one client for configuration and any subsquent wireless-related changes.

I configured my BT voyager using only the wireless connection probably because I did not know any better at the time. I cannot comment on your router but it was certainly possible with the Voyager. Just turned it on and dialed up the router home page,logged on and been going strong for a year now, even upgraded the firmware without a cable, I suppose that was risky.

It is possible with most Voyagers; it is not possible with Linksys, 3Com, Belkin, Draytek and most other brands.
