Wireless problems..

Just got a wireless router, connected it as per instructions via my NTL connection. Initial setup my desktop connected fine but the network was unsecured. After securing the network my desktop refuses to connect. It picks up the signal, I enter password etc. it spends a while saying its connecting then the conection screen disappears but no connection is made.
Now the laptop..
This connected fine when the network was secure, got on the net etc. Then as far as i know i didn't alter anything. But now the laptop will connect to the network but refuses to connect to the internet. It is saying there is a problem with the DNS.
OS is XP on the desktop - Vista on laptop.
I have tried the setup wizards etc. but keep coming back to the same place.
Any sugestions please...

I have both computers connected to the same wireless network, can share @
'shared folders' etc. but still can't access the internet. keep getting a 'DNS Configuration required' message.
Anyone know about DNS configuration?
