if your adaptor is usb2 then it probably will not work with usb1 and you will have to get a usb2 device to fit to your laptop. I do not know if they make a usb device that can plug into a usb1 port and give a usb2 port out. The desktop equivalent is a pci card with usb2 output.

A usb1.1 socket will quite happily run a range of USB 2.0 wireless adaptors. I have a BlueNext, Safecom and Zyxel 2.0 USB pens all work from a 1.1 socket.

The message sounds more like a driver error message... maybe?

You should have a driver disk. Try uninstalling the software, and reinstalling BEFORE connecting the pen to the computer.

The only other thing I could suggest is that the wireless adaptor is getting insufficient power... have you got masses of other USB kit attached?

Do you have a monitor icon to the right in your task bar. If you do, right click it and scan for networks. If it finds yours, select it and connect.

You may have to put in a code if it's security enabled and it SHOULD be.
