Wireless Problem

  scareymary 21:03 17 Jun 2007

I can connect to my wireless router but i'm unable to connect to the internet through it. I'm a total novice so quite frankly any help would be much appreciated. I've got a Advent laptop with Windows Vista, and I think router is a Linksy but can't be sure as i've no longer got the box. Please Help I've got to work from home whilst looking after two kids under 4 so need to be mobile.

Ta very much

Reboot the router.....switch it off at the mains - leave for about 30 seconds and then turn back on

Make sure you havnt turned off the onboard wireless lan card in laptop.
Not sure if its the same for Vista, but in xp,you type in the run box, services.msc
scroll down to wireless, and make sure its running in services.

i had a very similar problem with my LINKSYS access point. It had somehow reset to factory settings.
1. access the router by click here(assuming that is the IP adress).
2. Enter user and password info when prompted (default is 'admin' and 'admin'.
3. Check that the information listed in the settings page is corect as occasinally the LINKSYS may lose your ISP details (don't know wht, guess the gremlins get hungry!).
4. Save settings and the router will then automatically re-boot.

Hope this helps.
Cheers Mark
