Wireless printing via Bluetooth: Optimum distance

  Flopper 10:57 11 Feb 2007

Is there an optimum or maximum distance between a laptop and a printer if I want to print from the Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop to an Epson R300 using an Espon Bluetooth adaptor?
For example should I be able to have the laptop in the kitchen while the printer is in the loft?

Bluetooth max effective distance is said to be 10 metres, I'm also assuming that this is line of sight.

Anything inbetween the btooth adapters, such as walls, microwaves, etc. is going to cause interference, and may cause your printout to be incomplete.

Of course, you could always try it and see what the results are.

Hope this helps.

According to this article, click here, I am right, but;

"The maximum range is 10 meters but can be extended to 100 meters by increasing the power."

Depends on the bluetooth type (dongle, integral), but the average maximum distance tends to be around 7 meters for good connection.
