Wireless network limited connectivity in Vista

  finalcelt 18:26 05 Jan 2008

Home wireless network on Netgear DG824Gv2 running ok. New Packard Bell pc with Vista Home Premium connects but with limited access. New wireless adapter Linksys WUSB54GC running and configured OK but appears to not pick up any IP address on connection. Have tried disabling IPv6 as in previous threads but no joy. Also cannot connect by wire (we have AOL as ISP). Any suggestions gratefully received. Laptop with xp connects OK to wireless network (hence I can access forum!:-)

Sometimes with AOL the MTU must be set to 1400 in the router settings.

Thank you. Managed to connect by wire to router to try your solution and retrieve Network Key. I had been using the passphrase that works in xp for wireless connection, but Vista wants the Network Key which is much longer (and presumably more secure). Now on new Packard Bell and up and running! :-)
