Wireless keyboards and mice

Is it technically possible to purchase a wireless keyboard and wireless mouse from separate companies and use them with a windows 7 system, or must they be purchased as a bundle from one manufacturer?

Best to buy as a bundle, less chance of anything going wrong.

But having said that, I use a cabled keyboard and a wireless mouse via a KVM switching device, all of different manufacture.

If you want the mouse and the keyboard to work from the same (one) HID plugged into a USB port then you need to buy as a bundle.

I use a wireless keyboard and mouse from different makes on W7 and before that XP with no problems, but it means you will have two different recievers so use two USB ports, so probably best to go with a bundle.
