wireless encryption question

  charlton200 16:30 18 May 2008

I am just about to set up my PC to wireless broadband.

I got to make a choice between WPA and WEP encryption.

What are they and what should i choose please.

This is for a PC and the only other thing will be my xbox 360. And a future laptop if I get one.

WEP is effectively a broken system and can be easily cracked with widely available software.

WPA is a later standard that to all intents and purposes is considered secure, so if your equipment is compatible, use it.

Wep is an outdated encryption and is easily crackable.

WPA is far more secure, better still use WPA 2 if it is available on your router.
