Wireless download speed

Hi all,
When connected to broadband through a USB modem it was easy to check the connection speeds via the taskbar modem icon. I now have a wireless network set up with my main PC wired to the router and my laptop connected wirelessly. All works fine, but how do I check the speeds on both computers? Probably obvious when you know! Thanks all.

Should have said - PC running XP and laptop running Vista Premium.

Routers don't show the connection speed in the same way as USB modems. To check the connection speed of the router you need to log into the routers interface. This tells you how to get the info from various routers click here

To check the download speed you would have to run a speedtest from either machine e.g. click here

Thanks. Dipso,
Although I've had computers for years (started with a Spectrum), This is my first time delving into wireless. Always willing to learn though!
Thanks again.
