Wireless connectivity issues

Hi,

Just bought a computer from Pc Specialist, and it looks a good bit of kit. However, currently I am unable to connect to the internet. I order a TP Link 'TL-WN851N' PCI card with the computer, and while it seems to pick up our Sky network, I've as yet been unable to connect.

It say's it does not receieve a response from the router or access point. It is a fair distance from the router (router is in the living room, computer is in the loft room), but I have a laptop which has no such problems connecting.

I mentioned this to sky + pc specalist, and have tried updating the drivers plus changing the router channel but no luck. I've been told by sky to try a netgear usb wireless network adaptor and I'll probably buy one tomorrow, but does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be?

Thanks

I've has Sky broadband for years now and have found that the wireless side of thier routers are rubbish.

What I did to get around this was to turn wireless off and attach a wireless AP ( I used a N AP) and now my wireless BB signal is great and the range is fantastic.

Thanks for the help Tech Guy, care to elaborate on what that actually is though?

Wait, I had a look on that forum you suggested. Are those homeplug ethernet adaptors the thing that you are talking about?
