Check in device manager for exclamation or question marks against the lan card.

Not sure why a lan card needs a ssid a wireless card does?

Are you trying to connect by wire or wireless?

The Lan card needs the SSID from the Router Wireless Setup page putting into the Connection wizard settings before it will connect, you also need the Encryption key for the Wireless to work.

think the lan card is a dual purpose wireless and cable card. Like in a Laptop

The Ralink RT2500 is only a wireless card as far as I am aware .

Don't bother using the Windows connection wizard , just double click on the wireless icon on the task bar , scan for networks , select your one and put the security key in ( twice for XP ) and click on connect .
