Wireless connection

I've recently purchased a Linksys modem router but I can't connect my daughter's laptop to it.

If I select the properties for the wireless network and click on the Association tab it asks for the network key.
Under the network Authentication drop down list I get a choice of 4: Open, Shared, WPA & WPA-PSK.

This is different to my wife's laptop which gives me more options and hers is connected via WPA2-PSK.

How do I get the other options?

Both laptops run on XP

Thanks in advance for any help

If it is an older laptop it might not support WPA2 you will have to change the router to WPA-PSK or buy a new external wireless adapter for the laptop, USB or PCMCIA that will support WPA2

Thanks Strawballs. The laptop is only a year old so there is no reason why it shouldn't work.

If you still have the paperwork for the laptop check that it will support WPA2 they might have used an older internal card
