Wireless Adapter setup

I have a DI-524 router which is working fine and a DWL-G122 adapter. i wanted to use it on my windows 98 computer upstairs. I installed all the drivers and stuff and its not working can someone help me?

The manual suggests that the adaptor only works on 2000/XP or better

If that is what the manual says then it is highly unlikely that it will work with 98se.

in the manual i got with it it says
" This product works withthe following operating system software: Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Me , Windows 98SE

When you say not working what is not working??

Can not install driver on 98SE??

Can not connect to router??

No Internet access

Connection but low signal strenght

Are you using the cradle or is adapter plug into a usb port on upstairs computer

everything is good except the dns part i can't figure out how to get that to work. Like the part where I go to Start>Settings>Control Panel>Network, I can't figure out how to set it up

Ok check your setting

Network Adapter Set-up on all Computer

Also called a LAN card (Local Area Network) or NIC card (Network Interface Connection)

Click “Start”, “Settings” Network Connection

Double-click on the “Network Connection

Left-click on the “Local Area Connection” associated with your network adapter

Select “Properties” from the drop-down menu.

In the “Local Area Connection Properties” window all boxes should be ticked

Tick the box “Show Icon in Notification Area When Connected,

An Icon will appear in the task bar when you have finish the setup

Click “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)” Click the “Properties” button

Select “Obtain an IP address automatically

Select “Obtain DNS server address automatically”

Do Not Change Any Other Setting

Click “OK”.

Your computer network card is now configured for use with the Modem/Router

Web Browser Settings

Internet Explorer 4.0 or Higher

Start IE web browser. Select-Tools-Internet Options-Connection Tab

In the “Connection” screen, there are three selections:

“Never dial a connection”,

“Dial whenever a network connection is not present”

“Always dial my default connection”.

If you can make a selection, select “Never dial a connection”.

If you cannot make a selection, select “LAN Settings”

Make sure there are no check marks next to any of the displayed Options:

“Automatically detect settings”,

“Use automatic configuration script”

“Use a proxy server”.

Click “OK”. Then click “OK” again in the “Internet Options” page.

Other Network Connection Setting

Click-Start- Setting-Network Connection-New Connection Wizard

Select-Connect to the Internet-Next

Select-Set Up My Connection Manually-Next

Select-Connect using a broadband connection that is always on

Next-Finish

That part is not on my windows 98 and for Obtain DNS automatically it can't do that, it can only disable or put it in manually

You need to get the DNS setting from your ISP and enter into manually
