I have just purchased a Belkin modem wireless router but it seems I may have to get a wireless card for the desktop. Is this correct. I also have a Dell Laptop would I need a card for this as well. Have tried to connect to internet but unable too.
You will need a wireless card in each computer or you could buy a USB adaptor and swap between the computers....click hereHave you checked your laptop as many have wireless connections as standard?G
How do I find out if laptop and desktop has card
What is the and model of the laptop?
It is Dell Inspiron 1300
If you are running XP try:-Control PanelSystemHardwareDevice ManagerNetwork Adapterswill show if you have a wireless card.
click hereAcording to this yes it is wireless enabled
Thank you. Here is what it says= Dell Wireless 1370 WLAN MINI-PCI Card
Will I still need a usb adaptor to be able to use desktop
Yes But will need to connect one by wire to setup the wireless and security thn can go wirelessclick here
It not wise to use a wireless system to configure any router leave your desktop hard wire to port 1 on router Your desktop will connect at 100 mbps while the wireless will only connect at 54 mbps
