Hi - I can't find an answer to this question anywhere, but hope some knowledgeable person in the forum will know.

When adding files to a WinZip archive, what are the relative merits/pitfalls of 'normal' compression vs. 'maximun (portable)' ?

I found something at last! Not a great decrease in size, but a big increase in time, and no backward compatability.

The speed difference is very small unless you are compressing hundreds of files. Also Maximum (portable) IS backward compatible. It's Maximum (enhanced deflate) that is specific to version 9.
