Have just updated to WinXP from HE, with upgrade disk.
I am finding that my history file is missing while online, i.e when I go to a linked page, I cannot go "Back".
any ideas please?

Choose

View---->. toolbar

then from the slide out
choose customize ..... the last option

and see if the back button is in the Left Box...
select it...click Add...it will be then in the right box...

the right box shows all the icons/options you put in your toolbar..

also clicking the RESET button , resets it to its default state.... which then includes both the back as well as forward arrow...

after transfering the back arrow from the left box to right box....click close

and you will find the left arrow in your toolbar.

SANTOS7, Golly, that was quick.
I did as you suggested, the Back button is showing normally on IE, however, I am about to buy a camera, and looking through their page of sample pictures, when I click on one, it appears, but I cannot go back to look at others.,
This also happens elswhere when I click a link.

SANTOS7, thank you, I followed both options, in the second option, I keep getting asked for the XP Pro disk (I only have the upgrade disk) which has the I386 file, even then I am asked for files, the latest being iedw.exe which I cannot find.

When I click the link that you provided, I go to the site o.k, but the "Back" button greys out and I have to reconnect to PCA to get back here.
It is showing now with the History, but to a link, nothing?

Hey BMS try this..

1. Open a CMD prompt.

2. Type CD /D %SystemRoot%\System32 and press Enter.

3. Type Regsvr32 urlmon.dll and press Enter.

4. Press OK

these are some of the progs i have on my PC (all free) if you don't have them, run them while i am looking elsewhere for other options.
You may have to borrow a disc (if pos) to necessitate a repair which at the mo seems to be the way to go..

SANTOS7, Thank you, I had all but A-Squared (which I Now have:-))

About an hour ago I ran spybot, found and removed ZLOB.dnschanger.
Your first link of the five, disconnected as usual, I had to reconnect to PCA, and then suddenly noticed that my History had reappeared and I can now go "Back".
It looks as if IE is back to normal, I must find out if ZLOB was the cause?
Thank you very much for your help, it is much appreciated.
