Winword changes fonts

When I insert new text into a document, the new text appears in Times New Roman even though the original text is in another font (in this case Narkisim) and the style specifies Narkisim. This happens all through the file.

You refer to the "original text"... I presume this is a copy/paste operation?

If the copy is from a pdf document, that has the font embedded, and you do not have the font installed, then I imagine something like this would happen...

If, however, this is not where you are copying from, but rather you are copying from something else on your PC, this suggests that you do have the font installed...

Which means it's probably am issue with Word.

Have you tried searching on Microsoft to see if it's a known issue?

No, not paste, I should have written "type new text"

is not my strong point I'm afraid...

Is Narkisim showing in the font box as you type? If so, this is very odd.

In case it's a problem with the default template, (as many Word problems seems to be), you could try the following;

Close Word and search for "Normal.dot" (note dot not doc)

Rename it Normal OLD.dot (so you can revert to it should it not be the cause of the problem)

Restart Word. (Because there is now no "Normal.dot" for it to refer to, Word will automatically create another one.)

See if the problem is now resolved.

If it is, then all well and good. If it isn't, you may want to revert to your original "Normal.dot" if there were customisations in it.

To do this, close Word, delete the (new) Normal.dot and rename "Normal OLD.dot) as "Normal.dot"

Other things to try are;

Reinstall the font.

Try a repair of Word. (via the Help menu, >Detect and Repair).

Good luck,

I am not using Normal.dot, I am using a style that I defined and the font is Narkisim in the box as it should be, but changes to Times New Roman when I start typing. I will try a repair of Word.

Thanks for the effort.

You are using normal.dot - it is the default template.

The repair of Windows did the trick.
Thanks to all who answered.
