WinKey + L Not Working

  PaulB2005 08:36 22 Dec 2007

All of a sudden my WinKey + L combination is not working (Fast User Switch).

The L Key works and other combos such as WinKey + R (Run) works, just not WinKey + L

Checked User Accounts and Fast User Switching is enabled.

Can't think of / Google anything else....

Found this paul

go to start menu then run and type gpedit.msc

In the left hand pane select

-User Configuration

-Administrative Templates

-Ctrl+Alt+Del Options

then in the right hand pane it gives you the options to change. Make sure Remove lock computer is set to Disabled, or Not configured.

skidzy - Thanks but already found that. It's set to "Not configured".

However i forgot to mention that the problem was intermittent. If i rebooted sometimes it would work, then on the next 3 boots it wouldn't.

Just done sfc /scannow and it's now working

<TEST> Yes, just worked.

I'll keep an eye on it and Tick As Resolved if it seems fixed....

The Power, Sleep and Wake buttons on my keyboard also stop working when WinKey+L stops working.

WinKey works with other keys such as R and E....

Seems problem was Terminal Services wasn't running...

Up until now the Welcome screen didn't allow anyone to log in if anyone else was logged in but had used WinKey+L to switch out of their acount.

It also didn't indicate if anyone was logged in which meant users were restarting the PC so they could log in but the logged user would loose work.

Nor did it show the number of programs running under each user.

Then i found TermSvcFix click here &kb Download. Small program that fixes corrupt Terminal Services settings. Run it, reboot, and ALL FIXED.
