windows/system32 error

My Windows XP Pro based P.C got infected with the Netsky virus a few days ago. I downloaded and ran the 'Removal tool' from my Antivirus vender. I also updated my Antivirus software and ran an unscheduled complete system scan. My P.C is now clean. However, when I try to install certain programs ( e.g Xara webstyle 2.0 from Spring 2003 issue of P.C advisor ) I receive the following warning.
Heading: 16 bit windows subsystem.
Body:C:\windows\system32\config.nt. the system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and microsoft windows applications. Choose 'close' to terminate the application.
The installation then ends.
I located this file on my windows xp cd-rom and copied and pasted it into the system32 folder. I was suprised to find that i was not asked if I wanted to overwrite an existing version of the file. This indicates to me that the file was either missing or renamed. Either way my problem continues. This sounds quite serious to me. Does anybody have any suggestions????
