Windows XP will not start up.

On start up my grandchildren's PC shows a screen, white on black, with the following lines at the bottom.
"A disc read error occurred" and "Press Ctrl+Al+Del to restart". When this is done it just repeats itself.
There are no discs in the drives. Is there anything I can do to get passed this screen and start the computer?
Thank you , Ray.

Why have you started a third thread on the same subject?

How far does the boot sequence get, as far as the XP logo and Blue scrolling bars?

If you make a bootable floppy from click here it contains a couple of tools SCANDISK.EXE and CHKDSK.EXE whick can be run from the floppy.

This thread is now locked and can not be replied to.
