Today there are 3 updates for my Windows XP laptop. They have started to automatically download but the computer appears to have stopped when installing update 2 (whatever this one is) and has been running now for over half an hour. The screen still shows "installing update 2 of 3.." "do not swith off etc" but how can I stop this and return back to being able to use my laptop. The way things are going it looks like it will be for ever trying to install this one update. Help please. Thanks Phil

Is this a windows update? I thought all support from microsoft XP had stopped unless you are using a hack!

This could be updates for Microsoft Word or other program I am running but not sure what it is as it started automatically.

Reminds me of office 97. You could take a weeks holiday and the hour glass would still be twirling.

Glad it's sorted.
