Windows XP System Restore Points Vanishing

  Onizuka 16:33 09 Feb 2006

Before downloading the Nero 7 update at the beginning of this week I thought it might be sensible to create a Restore Point. There was an automatic System Checkpoint created a day or two before but I could not change the calendar to see what January points there were. Today I find that both the earlier system-created checkpoint and the manual point that I created have vanished and the only Restore Point shown is the System Checkpoint created automatically today. This surely defeats the object of being able to restore to an earlier time. Assuming that there is a fault somewhere and that earlier check-points should remain, can anyone please advise what I should do?

System Restore is no substitute for a full backup.

VoG™ - thanks for the link. My next task must be to learn how to search Microsoft’s Support site more efficiently!
