Windows XP Startup Options - how do I remove a OS

  sam2004 11:38 27 Mar 2004

Dear All,
Recently i have had to reinstall Windows XP Pro on my PC. Since then i have had two options to start up in Windows XP Pro & one for Windows 98 (Which is corrupted)

How do i remove the other Windows XP start up option & the Windows 98 one?

Any help is Warmly Welcomed!

Right-click on My Computer and select Properties.

From the dialogue box select the Advanced Tab and select the settings option from the Startup and Recovery section.

In here you can change the settings for the Boot.Ini file safely.

In your case select the OS from the top window and make the timeout value 0.

You could of course edit the boot.ini file if you are either competent or brave, but there is no need to do this.

as above:

start/control panel/performance and maintenance/system/advanced/start up and recovery/settings

choose the default operating system from the drop down box.

untick "time to display list of operating systems"
