Windows XP Recovery CD and new HDD

Is it possible to clean install WinXP from Recovery CD supplied by manufacturer eg Mesh onto a new replacement Hard Drive (all other components remaining same as at time of purchase)?

I ask this as I am looking into buying a new Mesh and thinking ahead.

So far from what I have read it appears that I may have to buy a fresh full version of WinXP. Is this correct?

You will find that the Mesh recovery disk won't work on the new hard drive.

I have nostalgia for the old days, when you paid for a Windows licence, and legally could continue to use it even if you replaced or upgraded your hard drive.

I suppose you could speak to Mesh at the time of purchase, and see if they have a suggestion.

FE and Anchor thanks for your replies.

I've taken your suggestion Anchor and emailed Mesh. I'll post back with their reply.

"Thank you for your enquiry with MESH Computers PLC. A full windows CD will be supplied with the system as standard."

From my point of view this is yet anther good reason to buy from Mesh.
