Can anyone, offer a difinitive list of ALL the essential security patches to be installed on a newly wiped PC, running XP Home or Pro SP1.

So far, I have
Q810833_WXP_SP2_x86_ENU
Q815021_WXP_SP2_x86_ENU
WindowsXP-KB823980-x86-ENU
WindowsXP-KB824146-x86-ENU
WindowsXP-KB828035-x86-ENU

and Sasser

WindowsXP-KB835732-x86-ENU

Is this list correct? Many thanks in anticipation, I feel sure that loads of people will find this very useful.

Going to WindowsUpdate or installing BigFix (click here) will automatically find all the critical, important etc updates required.

Thank you for that but what I want, is a way of putting the updates on BEFORE even connecting to the internet, to avoid Sasser, Blaster and Welvchia type attacks

Yes, many, many thanks for that, I will do that BUT it still only takes us up to October 03, therefore no protection against Sasser or the latest Welchia

click here download their virus cleaner, run it if you are clear update your windows security patches & keep them up to date. More than that and you are getting paranoid. Also download & run Spybot & Ad-aware.
