Windows XP Home Will not Start up Desktop

  Shepstar 08:02 04 Jan 2006

I just installed a bunch of new hardware (motherboard, graphics card, sound card, ect)almost everything but my Hard Drive however now my desk top will not load up instead my computer just resets, it gets through all the POST diags no problem, a look in BIOS shows everything seems to be detected, does any one know why it might be falling at the desktop loading part. The next time it loads I get the option of loading in safe mode and such, however when I try the system still resets at the same point.

I take it that you have not reinstalled your OS? If so, that is the problem - the PC is trying to boot from the hard disk with the old system files / drivers loaded.

IF you have the XP cd, boot with it and do a repair intstallation.
