Windows XP Home keeps crashing

XP crashes when I try to install Simcity4 or try to import a CD. I get the blue screen of death that says Machine_Check_Exception. I've tried Windows knowledge base but I can't change the BIOS. Also Checkit Diagnostics fails my memory which is brand new. Help please!

Try memtest86, available at click here download the software and run it to create a bootable floppy, let your PC boot from the floppy and see the results that it produces.

Thanks, tried that but no joy. I thought it might be a power problem but I've got a new power supply. Any further ideas?

If you have a full XP CD try running SFC /SCANNOW with XP CD in comp
