windows XP, forgotten password

about a year ago i had passworded my pc and as i have been going to uni for the last year i had a new pc for that. but while at home and not at my uni pc i descided to setup my older pc but came to the conclusion that i have forgotten the pc, is there anyway around this or do i have to format the whole pc. and start over

Just press and hold "Ctrl" and "Alt" and press "Delete" twice while the Welcome Screen is displayed.

Type in "Administrator" as the username, and leave the password field blank

If you created a password for the built-in administrator account, this wont work!!

  The F1 Help Key 22:35 03 Nov 2007 you have logon on as administrator in your PC...u will want to reset the other account password so you will be able to gain back all your themes setting and what so ever...

Click on Run>type CMD >press ok

This will display an MS-Dos Screen...
type >net user
to rest the password type >net user yourusername *

for example if my user name is ben.,the output will be as follow

net user ben *
you should put the asterix at the end

then it will ask u to enter the desired password..happycomputer
