Windows XP fails to boot

  MickLey 21:59 21 Mar 2005

Windows XP will not load, I get a message ‘Windows root, system 32\hal.dll corrupt or missing’.
When I try Safe Mode, only the first screen ‘Windows Advanced Options Mode’ is available. If I highlight ‘Safe Mode’ I get the corruption message again.
I would appreciate any help.
Regards, MickLey

You might have to do a repair install of windows which will leave your document & applications intact.
The link below is an excellent guide to do this from Powerless.
