windows xp defrag problem

  rosie 09:05 21 Aug 2005

I run windows xp and until now have my computer has come up with the message that I don't need to defrag. However, now it says I need to, but when I do it takes a long time and the report says there are files that can't be defragmented. Then when I start defrag again the drive still needs defragmenting. Is this a known problem with Windows XP, and is there any way I can satisfactorily complete this task?

Try restarting in safe mode and have a go.
