Try cleaning the Vista DVD, then reset the BIOS to default settings, ss if that helps the installation to complete.

Several reasons why it might occur.

Hard drive errors
1 your drive controller is faulty (ulikely)
2 boot priority may need resetting in BIOS especially if you have a mixture of sata and ide drives
3 your drive is faulty Run a “CHKDSK X: /F” on your target disk (by replacing X with the proper drive letter)
# Format the installation target partition with tools like Ultimate Boot CD
or firstly “DELETE” the installation target partition, then “CREATE A NEW” partition, and then , “FORMAT” the partition. retry to install

4 Installation Source:
It might be possible that the DVD /drive you’re using for the installation is corrupt, so check it once, and if possible, get yourself another installation source.
