Windows Updates Not Installing

  lee_robinson1983 10:13 28 Dec 2007

Hi all,

for the last week or so I've not been able to install updates on my pc. It gets to the update screen after you click to shut down and it gets stuck on installing update 1 of 8, I've left it a good 6 hours and it's still on 1 of 8. I've tried updating via the microsoft website using the link in the automatic updates section of the control panel and it still gets stuck.

I have a fast pc and a genuine windows copy that is registered... any suggestions anyone?

Been having the same trouble my self
Here are two tips I have been passed

The uninstall and reinstall I have done but don't yet know the result

Unregister Windows Installer, and then reregister Windows Installer. To do this, follow these steps:

1. On the "Start" menu, click "Run:.

2. In the "Open" box, type "msiexec /unreg", and then press ENTER.

3. On the "Start" menu, click "Run".

4. In the "Open" box, type "msiexec /regserver", and then press ENTER.

In the unred and re reg not that spaces they seem relevant[ie msiexec space /regserver]

Why worry if you cannot get Windows Updates ? Are they not the biggest providers of spyware onthe Internet ?
