Windows Updates

I've got 7 updates to do and one of them is IE8.
I had IE8 for a while and it caused problems of nuisance value and when it became a bit too much I uninstalled it. Is there a way of installing the other 6 updates and leaving IE8 alone? If it's complicated please spell it out as if to a child. My sight is such that it takes me an age to
read anything and remember what I've read. Any help appreciated.

Go to windows update, right click on the one you dont want, then click on hide update.

I just tried that and I don't have the option to 'Hide Updares'

...or even updates.

If you choose "custom updates" rather than "express updates" and then expand the item for IE8 there should be a small check box at the end of the item description which says "do not show this update again"

Thank you, that worked a treat.
