windows update restrictions

I run my computer on Windows XP but have never installed the service pack 2 because everything works! (No e mail/internet problems, all software fine, printers/scanners fine). My philosophy is if it ain't broke...
But now I can't install new Windows security etc. updates unless I install SP2 first.

Is there any way round this ?

Many thanks in advance for any help

Hi, I would advise you to install SP2, you will only have loads of similar problems without it.

You want to install the security updates but not SP2?

SP2 is a massive security update itself. It won't affect your e mail/internet, software or printers/scanners, so you have no reason not to install it.

Not installing XP SP2?

The words 'sand' and 'head out of' spring to mind.

Many thanks to everyone.

I will install SP2. If it all goes pear shaped I'll get you all to come round and fix things....

A word of advice.

Undertake some basic PC housekeeping before installing SP2
