Windows update problems

I have a windows home sp2 desktop connected with a netgear dg834g wireless router for a home network ,norton AV and firewall running (pre installed on pc when bought on boxing day ) now i cant connect to windows update site ,,get to the seaching for updates and then i get error code [Error number: 0x80072EE2] , ihave folowed all the suggeested solutions but still wont work ? anyone have any ideas please ?

Yes, ditch the wireless router and get a proper ones with leads.

In my experience 'wireless' anything is more trouble than it's worth.

It might be a conflict between the XP and the Norton Firewalls. Have you tried turning one or the other off and then running update again?

Did you try to flush the Host file as the cure says on microsoft site?.

Windows firewall is off, so turned it on and disable norton, still the same ,and yes i have flushed the host

I can connect to the microsft pages apart from the update page though ,and it is a genuine copy

cured a few problems such as yours recently
Stop the XP firewall then try this:-

Restoring the default firewall rules in Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall
