Windows Update

I've just logged on to the Windows security Centre to check for updates manually. Despite clicking on the Update buttons, I can't seem to get a result. The screen says "checking for updates" and the boxes are moving, however after 15 minutes they are still result. Whenever I've done it before, it only takes about a minute. Can anyone help?

Delete your Internet cache, Cookies, History & remove (right-click > Remove) the following files if present in C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files: MUWebControl Class, Update Class & WUWebControl Class. Reboot & try again. G

Why not set your computer so that you are advised that updates are waiting?
