I want to clean up my computer (Windows XP SP2)and note there are over 50 files in C:\windows with names $NtUninstallKB8****$plus there are also another load of files under Downloaded Installations and Downloaded Program Files. Could I delete any of these withou causing problems?

Anything like $NtUninstallKB8**** will be a way to uninstall a previous upgrade top Windows. Similarly, Downloaded Installations and Downloaded Program Files will be what you have downloaded since you installed your OS. In both cases, there should not be a problem if you delete these, but you can always test this by merely changing the the name of the root folder - if problems arise, you merely change the folder name back and if not, OK to delete.
