Hi: In "Windows task manager" process tab, can somebody tell me what the "CPU" figure actually means. My system idle often runs at 80-90. But 80-90 what? Help please

80-90% of the CPU's activity - but this is the % that is idle (not doing anything).

Its the remainder of the cpu capacity in a sense.
In the status bar it will tell you cpu usage for example 33% then the system idle will be what's left from 100% = 67%

Hi VoG™, Does that mean all other figures mean percentage of CPU Use?

  Sealer 20:24 08 Mar 2007

Oh no! are you in agreement or am i confused?

Say your system idle is 80% and another process is running at 5% that means that process is using 5% of the possible CPU activity but 20% (5/(100-80)) of the activity actually in use.

Clear as mud?

Ok its me being dense. Just took another look and can see iexplore using 28% and system idle using 72% making 100%. Thanks guys
