Windows starts with two options

After a failed reinstallation of XP Prof (I was trying to reinstall Windows on top of the installation I already have) I now get two options on startup, one of normal and the other says Windows (default). I only want it to go straight into the one option without me having to press anything.

In the Startup and Recovery I see the following. Does it look "normal"?

[Boot Loader]
Timeout=5
Default=C:\$WIN_NT$.~BT\BOOTSECT.DAT
[Operating Systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

Let me try writing that again with paragraphs :

[Boot Loader]

Timeout=5

Default=C:\$WIN_NT$.~BT\BOOTSECT.DAT

[Operating Systems]

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

If that looks OK what's the best way to reinstall Windows on top of what I already have leaving all my settings and programs intact?
