Is there a "last known good configuration" on the safe mode menu? (Can't remember ME very well). If so try that. Otherwise:

Go into the BIOS and change the boot order to CDROM first. Put the ME disk in the drive and restart the machine. This will load Windows over the top of itself, leaving data and documents intact. It should also use a default driver to replace the corrupt one that is causing the problem.

Thanks, Vog. Its all sorted now, there is mention of the fault in the Microsoft Knowledge base, Article 263318. It would seem that the keyboard is at fault and I will replace it for them with a spare I have, and which is running it now.
