Just had a phonecall from someone with an Indian accent saying he was from windows and they had had a lot of error messages from my computer and wanted to help me and to switch my computer on.
I said no thanks put the phone down and he phoned again so I again said no.
Are the scammers trying to get into our computers this way to give them control?

yes they are scammers - when I get a call from them I say I haven't got a pc - they hang up pretty quick.

"Are the scammers trying to get into our computers this way to give them control?"

YES that is exactly what they are doing as well as wanting your bank details to pay for the 'service'

There is no way anyone even knows you have a computer let alone if it has errors or not.

Be Very Rude to them, they are lowdown thieves.

Microsoft never ever ring people to tell them they have errors on pc.

There are several threads on here about it, and some novel and naughty ways to get your own back on them. Set your fire alarm off and hold the phone close to it - seems to do the trick they hang up pronto.
