Windows Movie Maker keeps crashing

  daisy2bell 10:05 02 Jan 2007

Everytime I load Windows Movie Maker, I get a pop up saying:
"Windows Movie Maker has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

And then asks me if I want to send an error report to microsoft.

May need a registry spring clean, there is a free version of Reg mechanic, I hope this is the one as I cannot remember where I got mine from.

I am getting the same error message.
When I try to open Windows Movie Maker I get the error message ' Windows Movie Maker has encountered a problem and need to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.'
The 'error signature' is AppName: moviemk.exe AppVer: 2.1.4026.0 Modname:qedit.dll
ModVer: 6.5.2600.2180 Offset:0001b2af
Microsoft want £40.00 + VAT for any help!
Has anyone any idea how to get Movie Maker working again?
Have tried using RegVac to clean the register

Since I have gotten rid of IE7 and reverted to IE6 it now works fine.

This may be a problem to do with a conflict of codecs.

Have a llok through some of these click here= and see if you can find a solution (although it would seem that there could be any number of causes!).

Good Luck!
