Windows messenger error 81000306

Sign-in, get message "incompatible ports etc" Troubleshoot finds connection problem.Error code 81000306. Go to test page which then reports connection OK. With luck can then get connected.
IE tools options connection work OK with Tiscali.
Any idea of what the error is?

Do you possibly have a Netgear router or Zone Alarms Installed? I am reading of someone who had the same problem on a different forum and it was due to zone alarms blocking it?
