Windows messenger?

  Black Strider 10:01 05 Apr 2009

Hi all!
I have upgraded to the latest windows messenger (or whatever there calling it at the moment). It does nothing for me and seems far to complicated, so i decided to reload an earlier version.
I deleted the new one using Control panel/add remove etc. but the older version will not load because it says i still have the newer version and it need to be removed!
Is there another version hiding somewhere, if it is, i cannot find it at all!
So here i am, not being able to use it, because i have deleted it, and not being able to reload it, because it is saying i still have it!
I would appreciate some help please.

Thanks for the advice Marg7.
I managed to sort it out earlier in the evening by using Microsofts Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. Now I have the old messenger back.

One further iritation with messenger is the continued flagging, telling you to upgrade to the latest rubbish. Is there anyway one can stop this?
Thanks again
