windows messenger

Can't get rid of Windows Messenger, keeps poping up in front of outlook Express.
Tried ADD/Remove ,not there, tried putting, RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove in Run box as suggested, says there is no such file. Any other ideas.

To remove it from the start up if you are using 98,ME or XP Start>run type msconfig>enter goto start up tab then uncheck windows messenger and OK it will still be there but it will not run unless you start it.

Open Windows Explorer.

Navigate to Program Files> Messenger.

Right click on the Messenger folder and Rename it to something like NoMessenger.

Windows will give warnigs about not doing this- but go ahead.

Result: no more Windows Messenger- anywhere!

If you ever want to use it, rename the folder back to Messenger.
