Windows Media Player

Last week I tried converting a video file to DVD using WinAvi. The result was that the video was very overexposed.....very light coloured video, so I uninstalled WinAvi. NOW I find that all videos I play on Windows Media Player and PowerDVD player are as white as snow !! Does anyone know what I can do to get them back to normal please. Thanks.
