Windows Media Center and Xbox 360

Ok after painfully getting Xbox live to work the other night via xbox to pc to internet via wifi (no router) im trying to get Windows Media working on my Xbox.

It passes all the tests but the last, like so:

Network Adapter: Wired
Wireless Network: N/A
IP Address: Confirmed
PC Selected: Connected
PC Connection: Failed

Ive downloaded and installed all the necessary framework and roller2 updates for Media Center, and even installed the latest WMP11 (for easy sharing).

When i click Media Center from the Xbox i get the message:

"Your console didn't obatin an IP address from your DHCP server. An IP address is usually required for your console to contact your PC with windows media center. Check your network connection in network setting."

Ive opened all ports needed on firewall, WMP11 detects the Xbox360 so the only thing im thinking now is that there is a conflict in IP address.

Because im connected like so:

WIFI Router downstairs > PC and Xbox upstairs (PC connected by WIFI Adapater, Xbox connected via ethernet with Xbox live running ok)

Ive googled for last 2 days or so and ran through all the guides ive found there and on microsoft sites.

can any one help more, will provide more info if needed.
